Have You Ever Seen a Real Wolf? Well, you can. At Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary

The Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary, also known as Noah’s Ark, is located on the N2 between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

The sanctuary is home a few Timber Wolves, huskies and wolf dogs as well as a variety of farm animals.

The wolves at the sanctuary have been captive bred, so they are not completely wild.  However, they are still not tame and so visitors are warned not to touch the fences.

A guided tour will take you through the wolf dog and husky enclosures.  This is a unique opportunity to see and to interact with these beautiful northern hemisphere animals.

Alternatively, you may choose to walk through the sanctuary on your own.  You will be guided by comprehensive boards and signs which are displayed around the enclosures.

The feeding of the wolves happens in the late afternoon where they feast on raw meat and chicken.

This is a great educational opportunity for kids to see wolves, other than in story books. The guides are knowledgeable and will share a lot of interesting facts about the wolves.

Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary is great for families

The Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary is a fun and interesting place for the whole family.

There is an animal touch farm, where kids can interact with a variety of farm animals –  goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys, bunnies and ponies.  There are even the exotic Emus and Alpacas.

There are picnic tables nestled throughout the park, a play area for kids and a charming tea garden which offers light lunches and refreshments – a place for parents to relax while the children play on the jungle gym.

A gift shop sells wolf-themed T-Shirts, fluffy animal toys and other collectables.
