Use this checklist to compare children’s party venues and ask the practical questions before you book. Requirements differ between venues and packages.

Start with the essentials

  • Choose a date, a realistic total budget and an estimated number of children and adults.
  • Consider the birthday child’s interests and the ages of the guests.
  • Shortlist a location and an activity the group can enjoy.

Ask each venue

  • What is the current price, minimum booking size and maximum capacity?
  • What is included: venue hire, activities, equipment, food, drinks and supervision?
  • Are there age, height, ability or other activity restrictions?
  • Can you bring a cake, party packs and decorations? What food or allergy arrangements can the venue provide?
  • Is there suitable access, parking and toilet provision for your guests?
  • Is there an indoor or covered alternative if the weather changes?
  • What deposit is required and what are the cancellation or postponement terms?

Confirm in writing

Keep the agreed package, date, time, guest numbers, payment schedule and cancellation terms together. Share the location and arrival details with parents and check final numbers with the venue.
