Crocworld Conservation Centre was the place to be on the KZN South Coast this Reconciliation Day (16 December) as families and holidaymakers gathered to celebrate the festive season and honour Henry the Nile Crocodile’s incredible 125th birthday. Henry, surrounded by his many wives, enjoyed the well-deserved celebration, considering he’s the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity! There were free cupcakes for early-bird guests to celebrate, plus meat for the birthday boy sponsored by Fresh Food Market Scottburgh. From the vibrant Colour Run and inflatable fun to the much-loved Secret Santa Pop-Up and free cupcakes in Henry’s honour, the public holiday was packed with excitement. Visitors got to enjoy crocodile feedings, talks, curio shopping, face painting, and festive market stalls, all within Crocworld’s beautiful coastal setting. The celebrations continued with the launch of the WildED Holiday Camp, offering children a week of outdoor adventure and conservation learning. There’s still lots of holiday fun to be had at this Scottburgh-based family destination, including fantastic local crafts being sold by vendors from the Crocworld parking lot, in collaboration with South Coast Tourism & Investment Enterprise (SCTIE), plus free Slushies from the Fish Eagle Café for the first 100 entrants to Crocworld on New Year’s Day!
