Paintball and Laser Tag are, without a doubt, two of the most fun experiences for a child or an adult.
Paintball
Paintball is an outdoor game in which players compete to eliminate opponents by tagging them with paintballs, fired from air-powered paintball guns. The paintballs themselves are made from gelatin capsules filled with dye. The game is typically played in various terrain types, including woods, urban areas, or purpose-built fields with obstacles and bunkers.
Players are divided into teams, often wearing distinctive gear to identify teammates and they are equipped with a paintball gun, paintballs, and protective gear. A typical game involves various scenarios like capture the flag, elimination, or defending a base and a once a player is hit by a paintball and marked with a visible splat of paint, they are out of the game or may return to a designated respawn area, depending on the game rules. The game continues until one team achieves the set objective or all players on the opposing team are eliminated.
Safety is a big part of Paintball and players must wear masks to protect their eyes and face. Additional safety gear includes chest protectors, gloves, and neck guards. Barrel covers must be used when guns are not in play to prevent accidental discharges. Players must follow specific safety and game rules established by the field or event organizers, such as maintaining a safe shooting distance and avoiding certain sensitive areas. Trained referees oversee the game to ensure rules are followed and handle disputes.
Laser Tag
Laser tag does not involve the level of contact that paintball does as players use infrared-emitting devices (laser guns) to tag opponents, aiming to score points. The game is typically played in a dark, indoor arena filled with obstacles and barriers, but more recently and with technological upgrades laser tag can be played out doors in the same environment as paintball. The internal arenas however do create an immersive experience with special effects like fog, music, and lighting.
Players are divided into teams or play individually and each player is equipped with a laser gun and a sensor vest or gear that registers hits from opponents. The objective is to score points by tagging opponents while avoiding being tagged and like, paintball, various game modes exist, such as team deathmatch, capture the flag, or free-for-all. The game begins with a signal, and players navigate the arena, using cover and strategic movements to tag opponents. Points are scored for each successful tag, and some modes may include objectives like capturing bases or defending zones.
While laser tag is generally safe, some arenas may require players to wear protective eyewear to avoid accidental injury. The infrared beams used in laser tag are harmless and do not cause physical damage. The arenas are usually designed to minimize tripping hazards, and players are instructed not to run, climb, or engage in physical contact. Players are briefed on the rules and safety guidelines before the game starts. Referees or staff members are present to ensure rules are followed and to assist in case of any issues.
