There is a reason why Twinkle Tots Playschool is among the top play schools in Walmer, Port Elizabeth. They offer a loving, fun, safe and child-friendly environment aimed at preparing children for Grade R.
The success at Twinkle Tots Playschool has been due to the efforts of the Carter sisters, who took ownership of the playschool back in March 2002.
“We are still in the classroom teaching children. Our aim is to create a safe environment for young children to grow and learn,” explains Jenny Carter.
“Fun is an absolute must!”

Twinkle Tots Playschool caters for two, three and four-year olds in three lovely classrooms that are fully-stocked with educational games and toys. They currently have 46 children enrolled for 2020.
“Our aim is to help children to gain independence and build confidence before they go to pre-primary,” says Jenny.
“Consequently, our staff recently received training in Early Learning and Development Aims (ELDAS) as prescribed by the government in their National Curriculum Framework for children from birth to four.
“This has definitely confirmed our beliefs: our focus is, and always will be play. We believe with a well-planned and structured environment a child can learn so much. They develop language skills, maths skills, cognitive skills, physical skills, creative skills, social skills and emotional skills.”
Jenny adds that Twinkle Tots Playschool has put a lot of energy and thought into its daily programme.
“The children are always busy and happy,” she describes.
“Our outside areas are ideal for the little ones to run and play – and they are always a hive of activity. In addition to this, we also offer extra murals like Monkeynastix, Kindermusik, Dance Kids, Playball, Junglegym Kids, Swimming, Kings Rugby, Youth Cricket Academy and Beaux Arts Pottery.”
Opening hours at Twinkle Tots Playschool
The Twinkle Tots Playschool daily programme runs from 8h15 to 12h15. However, doors open at 7h00. They still follow the government school terms.
“We also offer aftercare until 17H15 Monday to Thursday and 15h00 on a Friday,” Jenny adds.
“Our school is friendly; the staff are helpful and we have the nicest families in Port Elizabeth.”
