Kaigan Aikido Dojo – Walmer – Port Elizabeth
Looking for an extracurricular activity that your kids can not only enjoy but learn something deep and meaningful from? Then Aikido might be the perfect thing for them. One of the best places to learn the art of Aikido in Port Elizabeth is the Kaigan Aikido Dojo.
Situated in Walmer, Kaigan is run by Dr Candice Dugmore, a 4th Dan Aikido master. She has been doing Aikido since 2002 and is the highest-ranking female Aikido master in South Africa. She is also the only woman in South Africa, who owns her own Aikido dojo.
What the Kaigan Aikido Dojo can teach you
Aikido is a non-violent martial art that has been practised and studied for centuries. Those who practice Aikido do not perform acts that will harm their opponent but instead use their attackers’ momentum against them by immobilising or throwing.
Among the many benefits of learning Aikido, besides self-defence, you will be able to experience benefits such as physical and spiritual growth, better posture, respect for self and those around you, as well as improve core strength and concentration.
Not only will you learn a way to protect yourself, but you can also discover how to resolve other forms of conflict in a non-confrontational way and restore harmony. Not to mention that classes are always fun and you learn something new with every lesson!
Kiddies’ classes run on Mondays and Thursdays from 5pm to 6pm.
