Dis-Chem has launched an extensive parenting programme within the Dis-Chem app called Baby & Me, which will arm users with wide-ranging information and knowledge relating to pregnancy and babies. This innovative programme is designed to support expectant and new parents in effortlessly navigating the challenges of pregnancy and early childcare. It offers a comprehensive range of features to optimise the health and wellness of expectant mothers starting from eight weeks of pregnancy and continuing through the first year of their baby’s life.
Saul Saltzman, Dis-Chem’s Managing Director, emphasises the important role this programme will play, stating, “Parenting is a joyful yet challenging journey but it does not come with a manual. Every pregnancy and birth is unique, and expectant and new parents have loads of questions and are always looking for advice. This parenting programme houses the A to Z of pregnancy and babies in one place. It offers expert advice, personalised information, and support tailored to each parent’s unique journey, helping them navigate parenthood confidently from pregnancy and beyond.”
He says this new extension to the app is a comprehensive programme providing in-depth, accessible, and convenient mom and baby advice and guidance. “The insights we gained from the questions asked by expectant and new parents in our pharmacies and clinics clearly showed that there is always a need for expert advice and guidance, and we have responded to that need with the development of this innovative programme.”
It offers a variety of functions specifically designed to meet the diverse needs of both mothers and babies. These include weekly pregnancy updates, personalised tracking tools for mom and baby, breastfeeding tips, guidance on baby sleep patterns, nutrition advice for babies, and baby development advice and monitoring. From addressing typical concerns to providing vital health assessments, the programme aims to equip parents with the knowledge and tools necessary to make well-informed decisions regarding their health and that of their babies.
In addition to its practical features, the programme will be integrated with Dis-Chem’s existing pharmacy and clinic services and through multiple data sources will be able to alert parents to any personal pressing health matters, thus allowing them to manage them effectively before they become more serious. Moreover, it is equipped with advanced features to identify mothers and babies that could be high-risk cases. This empowers mothers to receive tailored education and recommendations aligned with their specific health profiles, enabling them to make on the spot, well-informed decisions regarding their health.
