Animal Farmyard and Tea Garden is a delightful kids’ party or family outing venue in the Hillcrest countryside. It’s a great place to interact with a wide selection of farm animals – the big and the small.
The venue, which also does school excursions, is owner-managed by Jenny Bamber. Together with her welcoming staff, they have made Animal Farmyard and Tea Garden a paradise for kids and the animals that call the farm home.
Animal Farmyard is home to ducks, chickens, geese, turkeys, tortoise, rabbits, horses, donkey, sheep, pigs, goats, guinea fowl, birds, guinea pigs, Jersey cows, Nguni cattle among other animals.
Because the farm animals are tame, your kids are able to feed and pet the animals. There are opportunities to milk a cow – this depends on the availability of cows/calves; ride a pony/horse, have a tractor ride, play on the jungle gym swings and slides and for the little older children. They even have a Zipline ride (Foofy slide).
You also do not have to worry about bringing food as Animal Farmyard has a tea and coffee shop offers light lunches, breakfast, cakes and beverages in a lovely setting overlooking the farms on the opposite side of the valley.
They allow you to also make use of their picnic and braai area where you can bring your own meals and supplies.
Parties can also make use of the Animal Farmyard’s in-house catering or bring their own eats and treats. The farm is open to the public from Monday to Sunday, 9:00 – 16:30 – including on school and public holidays.
While the kids have their fun, parents also have a chance to let their hair down and enjoy the fresh country air.
