Situated on Klipdrift Farm in Robertson, Robertson Horse Adventures is the oldest riding school in the area, and offers a range of equestrian experiences, from serene trail rides to comprehensive riding lessons and even carriage rides.
The school exclusively features South African Boereperde, a hardy and versatile breed perfectly matched to riders based on their abilities. These horses are central to the experience, ensuring every rider enjoys a safe and memorable adventure.
Trails vary from gentle meanders through vineyards, orchards, and open grasslands to more demanding rides along the Breede River and weekend excursions into the majestic Langeberg Mountains. Klipdrift Farm is also home to the Samjak Stud, a renowned breeder of South African Boereperde.
These horses carry bloodlines tracing back to the origins of the Cape horse, a breed refined to endure South Africa’s harsh conditions.
Trail Rides at Robertson Horse Adventures
Open seven days a week, Roberston Horse Adventures caters to riders of all levels.
The Vineyard Trail is perfect for families and beginners. This relaxed 4km walk winds through picturesque vineyards and orchards. Even children as young as two years old can join, safely led on a rein.
The Long Slow Trail is a two-hour journey tailored for beginners, offering leisurely exploration of breathtaking landscapes.
The Almond Trail, designed for intermediate riders, is a 6km route and takes about an hour and allows for extended trots amidst the stunning surroundings.
The River Trail, ideal for confident riders, is a 10km adventure and features long stretches for trotting and cantering along a scenic track beside the Breede River.
Riders are encouraged to wear long pants and closed shoes, and safety helmets are provided to ensure a secure experience.
