Woodridge College launches e-Platform digital reading programme

As the digital world continues to grow, so too does its involvement in education. To accommodate for the growing digital world, Woodridge College and Preparatory School has taken the first steps towards digital education by incorporating the e-Platform for Schools programme.

Woodridge College becomes first school to adopt e-Platform learning

As the first school in the Eastern Cape to adopt this platform, Woodridge College and Preparatory School believes that the e-Platform will inspire more students to read and become interested in literature.

e-Platform, designed by Wheelers Books, is an eBook and Audiobook lending system that has helped inspire many libraries across the globe. It’s basically an entire library in the palm of your hand!

“With today’s digital climate, where children are constantly spending time on their devices, we saw value in introducing a useful system like this, which will enrich the digital journey of students and make it so much more productive,” said Lynne Niemann, Marketing and Communications Manager at Woodridge College and Preparatory School.

More about e-Platform

This new platform aims to get reluctant readers to experience the joys of reading, while it compliments traditional reading due to the books being available in hard copy in the school library.

The e-Platform will also be able to assist learners who have learning disabilities, such as Dyslexia and Irlen Syndrome, and allows users to adjust the font size and background colour for personalisation.

Librarians can even monitor the usage of the programme to see how much of an impact it has on the students. Age restrictions can also be applied on certain books, if necessary, to ensure that kids are reading age appropriate content.
